Summer at Ngystle

Greetings Ngystle supporters!

As the summer winds up, Ngystle looks back on a summer of fundraising and programming. With our booths at Hospital Days and the Tlell Fall Fair, we were able to raise core funds that will help us continue to offer our services to all islanders. Skidegate Days was also a great success! We would like to express our profound gratitude to the communities of Queen Charlotte, Skidegate and Tlell for their volunteer contributions to these colourful Haida Gwaii celebrations. What a vibrant place we live!

The Kayaking for Youth and Elders program was offered for a second year. In partnership with the Skidegate Youth Centre and with funding from the Canadian Mental Health Association (through the Child and Youth Mental Health and Substance Use Collaborative), Gwaii Trust and Northern Savings Credit Union, nine youth and one Haida elder received three days of kayak and water safety training, then an overnight excursion to the Burnt Islands in Skidegate Inlet, totalling five days on the water. Guides Luke and Kye Borserio instructed participants on rolls, wet exits, responsible fire building and camping practices. The weather, the connections, and the wildlife were what participants most enjoyed.

We were fortunate enough to have a summer student working with us. Tanika Brown spent five weeks at Ngystle cataloging our library and helping with clients and fundraising.

Stay tuned for information about our upcoming fall programming:

Meditation Mondays will resume September 12th. This year we will be adding a new element to our group meditations. Every other week we will be hosting a group energy session. The goal is to provide a safe space for people to learn about and explore energy healing in a group setting. Participants are encouraged to offer their own gifts or invited to simply receive. All are welcome.

Devjeet Singh will be offering Kundalini yoga by donation. This is a low impact practice and focuses on dissolving old patterns of behavior through breath work and mantra. Dates and times are TBA

Ngystle continues to offer its Amethyst Bio Mat service and Trinfinity8 crystal healing program during its office hours from 9-4:30, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Book an appointment and enjoy some time for relaxation and rejuvenation: 250-559-4114 or ngystle@haidagwaii.net.

Blessings!

Drum Making Comes Full Circle with Fire

In partnership with the Skidegate Youth Centre, we’d like to announce that our 3 drum making workshops came to completion with a traditional fire circle under the full moon on Nov. 25th.  For the workshops, Lydia Robichaud was the Cultural Facilitator and Galaa (Clayton Gladstone Jr.) was the Artist Facilitator.  Each workshop was successful with a lot of fun and laughter.  The energy of spirit and connection was amazing.  The Lyell Island song was sung with great pride.  The Monitoring and Evaluation portion of Skidegate’s Comprehensive Community Plan suggests that the number of drums in a community is a great measurable indicator supporting the cultural health of a community.  This project created 28 more drums in Haida Gwaii.  We were pleased to have the support of parents or family who came with the younger children to be a part of the group.  Haaw’a to parents and family and to Elders Algyaa.adad (Betty Richardson), Yaahldaajii (Gary Russ), and Dewekiekillaf (Freddie Russ) for volunteering their time with their presence of interest, support, and story telling.  We greatly appreciate the funding for one drum making workshop by New Horizons of B.C. Seniors and the funding for the other two by Gwaii Trust.  We are very grateful to Skidegate Band for Proposal writer Gid uuwans (Dana Moraes).

LaaDaa (Colin Richardson) led a beautiful fire circle under the full moon to complete the drum making ceremony.   The opening prayer was spoken in Haida by Jiixa (Gladys Vandal) and Kuna ajaad (Jenny Cross) made a food offering to the ancestors.  This was followed with so much heart in sharing of stories, songs, prayers, offerings, and presence.  Singing and story telling continued indoors with cookies and hot chocolate at the Youth Centre.  With participants ranging from young children to elders, it was a wonderful way to hear the new drums enter the community and reverberate through the hearts of multiple generations here on Haida Gwaii.

We hope we have spelled everyone’s Haida name correctly, if not please phone us 250-559-4114 and we’ll correct it right away.

A Psychologist’s Near-Death Experience and Journeys into the Mystical

Kathy Pic Nov 2013_0

Form one woman’s near-death experience, comes an astounding story that explores the depths of man’s beginnings and the very blueprint of creation. In Fractals of God, clinical psychologist, Kathy Forti, shares how in 2003 her heart stopped and she was helped to return to Earth by multi-dimensional beings of light whose goals is to bring healing to our world.

With this new guidance, she journeyed into the realm of physics an sacred geometry, and learned how key mathematical information affects the consciousness of the cells. Dr. Forti’s mystical experiences will forever alter your concepts about life, healing, and man’s true potential for evolutionary change.
This revealing and insightful story speaks to the very essence of our soul’s purpose – to find a greater connection to the God Source in all living things.

“Fractals of God is a treasure story, not just about what happened to Kathy, but what she found waiting for her–inside her own soul…” – P.M.H. Atwater, author of Near Death Experiences: The Rest of the Story

Divine Dance to Awakening

Well, our weekend of divine dancing with Bernie Koftinoff of the Oneness University has come and gone. The Oneness Awakening course was a daylong workshop aimed at awakening higher levels of awareness by shifting the mind from a dualist perspective to a state of oneness. The philosophy of the Oneness University is largely grounded in the idea that each person is their own expression of the divine so by connecting to our innermost selves, we embody the divine, the creator, source, God. In other words, whatever it is you envision as that something bigger than yourself is actually a part of you and can be expressed through you. As a result of societal that both conditions of suffering and joy are present at all times, even when the going gets rough, with the right tools it is possible to access a state of joy.

During the day long intensive that took place Saturday May 31st at the Skidegate small hall, participants were guided through a series meditations and dancing sessions through which they were able to raise their Kundalini, untimately enabling the release of emotional blockages. Bernie also offered oneness blessings or deeksha, a practice where the giver is able to transfer divine energy into the receiver, ultimately connecting them to their higher self and further clearing habitual patterning that is no longer serving them.

It was a challenging workshop where we scaled the depths of our souls and discovered what past events or traumas that have been stuck in our sub-conscious mind are holding us back and fueling our ego-selves. In a loving and supportive environment we helped each other express and release these painful events. By clearing emotional blockages we are now more able to give and receive love and joy!

“The destiny of man is to awaken from their spiritual amnesia and to realign with the original intention of their soul. When the hawk gets a hold of us in his powerful talons, we will be asked to evaluate who we have become and to shatter our self created illusions. This will help our inner truth to come out into the open and for it to shine.” ~ Ina Woolcott
