Greetings Ngystle supporters!
As the summer winds up, Ngystle looks back on a summer of fundraising and programming. With our booths at Hospital Days and the Tlell Fall Fair, we were able to raise core funds that will help us continue to offer our services to all islanders. Skidegate Days was also a great success! We would like to express our profound gratitude to the communities of Queen Charlotte, Skidegate and Tlell for their volunteer contributions to these colourful Haida Gwaii celebrations. What a vibrant place we live!
The Kayaking for Youth and Elders program was offered for a second year. In partnership with the Skidegate Youth Centre and with funding from the Canadian Mental Health Association (through the Child and Youth Mental Health and Substance Use Collaborative), Gwaii Trust and Northern Savings Credit Union, nine youth and one Haida elder received three days of kayak and water safety training, then an overnight excursion to the Burnt Islands in Skidegate Inlet, totalling five days on the water. Guides Luke and Kye Borserio instructed participants on rolls, wet exits, responsible fire building and camping practices. The weather, the connections, and the wildlife were what participants most enjoyed.
We were fortunate enough to have a summer student working with us. Tanika Brown spent five weeks at Ngystle cataloging our library and helping with clients and fundraising.
Stay tuned for information about our upcoming fall programming:
Meditation Mondays will resume September 12th. This year we will be adding a new element to our group meditations. Every other week we will be hosting a group energy session. The goal is to provide a safe space for people to learn about and explore energy healing in a group setting. Participants are encouraged to offer their own gifts or invited to simply receive. All are welcome.
Devjeet Singh will be offering Kundalini yoga by donation. This is a low impact practice and focuses on dissolving old patterns of behavior through breath work and mantra. Dates and times are TBA
Ngystle continues to offer its Amethyst Bio Mat service and Trinfinity8 crystal healing program during its office hours from 9-4:30, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Book an appointment and enjoy some time for relaxation and rejuvenation: 250-559-4114 or ngystle@haidagwaii.net.
Blessings!
Karen Walhout, Administrator and Coordinator 🙂
